72mm vs 86mm telephoto light absorment

I want to buy a 2x, 2.5x telephoto lens to minimize the depth of field.

I found a lens that meets my needs, but;

A) it has 67mm rear & 72mm front thread. So i have to use it with step down ring, 72->67.

B) I found the same lens' 72mm rear threaded version. ( 72 rear, 86 front)

"B" is more expensive when compared to the "A"
"A" allows me to use my 72mm polarize filter. ( so i won't be in need of putting polarizer between two lenses..

BUT,

1) I am not sure wheter i'll have vignetting with the stepdown ring in the "A" choice.

2) I am thinking that, "B" choice will help to get better picture because of 86mm diameter. ( More light? )

I'have opened this thread, since i am not sure. So don't get angry to me if i write something incorrect.

Thanks for your replies and sharing your experiences.

By the way, this is nearly the maximum ( minimum depth of field ) effect i could get from dvx with it's stock lens. http://hayalet.net/sequence4.avi
