720pN and 1080pA, mixed in Avid

After reading this quote from Barry Green on another forum, "1080/24pA (after pulldown removal) looks and moves and feels exactly like 720/24pN, except it's larger, sharper, and less compressed." I've decided that 1080pA is the way to go for my upcoming shoot (storage is not an issue, and it seem that's the only downside).

1. Will it be easy, while on set, to switch between a scene with 1080pA in 24P and another scene with 720pN in 60P for our slow motion shots? Is this reasonable (how)?

2. Does anyone know if Avid can support both of these formats in the same timeline? Or does the pull-down need to be removed first on the 1080pA stuff first?

3. While on set, can we playback the 1080pA footage? Or will it look strange because it's in 60i and the pull-down hasn't been removed yet?

Thanks!

it will be easy on set but you will not be able to do this with avid alone. Avid doesnt support pulldown on 1080. SO your 1080 timeline will be 60i will pulldown included. The 720PN footage will be 24 frames per second - you cannot mix frame rates in avid so this will not be mixable. I too wish avid could remove pulldown for 1080

Thanks. So, does FCP support this type of mixing? If so, I'll just have to convince my editor to go with Final Cut, I guess...
