720p upres

Hello.

I am shooting a feature on the GH1 (with a bit of EX1 and 5D [if the firmware update is out when rumored] thrown in there.) I am shooting 1080p but managed to accidentally shoot a short scene 720p. Has anyone had any experience uprezzing 720p to 1080p with this camera? Did it match well at all? Anyone have any thoughts? Is this scene going to stick out like a short film? I'd like to tell the producer whether or not we need to reshoot ASAP. I will do some of my own tests but I wanted to hear people's thoughts. Keep and mind that shots will not be intercut, that it will be in seperate scene so the difference won't be totally jarring. Thanks!

I'm currently editing a short film I shot which intercuts 1080p and 720p shot on the GH1. The 1080p is a bit sharper but, seriously, as long as the 720p footage is in focus and lit similarly to the 1080p, it is nearly indistinguishable. This may be a controversial claim, but that's what I believe. I think you'll be fine.

Yes but is your edit in a 720p or 1080p timeline? If it's 720p that makes perfect sense...if it's 1080p I will be relieved but surprised.

Yeah that's probably what I'll be using :D

My timeline is 1080p. I have to qualify that my current editing monitor is not quite 1080 resolution, but I have made 1080p output files to view on my PS3 that include the 720p uprezzed footage and it really looks great to me. If the scene you shot accidentally on 720p is mainly people and not a wide vista or beauty shot, again I think you'll be fine.

Thanks for your responses, will pass along to the project's post team. Usually I am the post guy but not this time.

Thanks for the Hot Rod link, if Illya Friedman says it's so then it is so.

I can't see any difference between 1080 and 720 except for the added jello and compression artifacts in 1080. Hence why I shoot 720 almost exclusively nowadays.
