720p overcranked to 60 frames

Are you sure this recorded at 60 framerate? I doesn't feel very slow motion to me. Of course I could be wrong. Looks good in anycase.

I thought the same thing, but it is overcranked to 60. In real time it took about 6 seconds to dump all the coins. The fall pretty fast. Maybe slowing it sown further in post would help.

I did bump up the shutter speed to minimize motion blurring. That shouldn't have any effect on how fast the coins are falling other than without the motion blurring they just appear to be falling faster.

I'm not sure what you mean by a wrong shutter speed.

I would check your settings, I just shot some 24 overcranked to 60 and it was much smoother and slower.
What shutter speed did you shoot at?

The penny in the back seems to be slowed down as it spins, but really seems off for a VFR at 60.

Ok non-believers! :)

I went back and reshot a comparison clip so you could see the effect the camera settings have on this subject.

The following clip has three sections labled with the settings I used for each. - The original clip posted was in fact overcranked to 60.

As to the earlier post about the "wrong" shutter speed, step through the clip frame by frame to see the effect a faster shutter has on motion. In this case, I wanted to minimize the motion blurring in the fast moving coins so I bumped up the shutter speed. It has no affect on the speed of the clip or the frame rate. As long as the shutter speed is giving you the desired effect, there is no wrong shutter speed unless it adversly effects your exposure.

Think of it in terms of still photography. You wouldn't shoot sports with a slow shutter speed or the players would be a blur. A fast shutter speed stops action.

I agree that the slow-motion isn't as slow as it should be but thats what 60 frames gives you. Additional speed change in post will give me that really slow-motion effect.

Drop a handfull of coins from 2 feet up onto a countertop and see how fast the action is. What can I say, gravity sucks - really hard!

LOL X Check; it's not the planet it's just the 9 out of 10 people on the planet.

Nice Job Kevin ! (what was everyone screaming NUTZ for ?)

Is it possible to give us an overcranked shot of something else besides the coins for comparison? Like someone jumping while dropping coins, or dribbling a basketball or something like that? Might be helpful. :)

How about a shot of two girls showering overcranked to 60p.

How about my wife's 40 year old butt jiggling in slow-mo.

OUCH! - Just got smacked in the back of the head.
