It doesn't work because the camera doesn't send out 24pN over firewire, which is the only way to connect to OnLocation. It only sends the 24P mode.
I know there are those who say if you're delivering to 29.97, you should shoot and edit in the 720P mode (at 29.97) and not the pN mode, but that's just not the way to go. If you shoot 24pN and edit on a 23.976 timeline, you still have every output option available to you, including 29.97. Edit in the timebase of the footage. It's the best way.
