720p 60 Footage in After Effects CS4

I've just been dropping the 60fps stuff onto the new comp button and getting fine results exporting with xvid for vimeo upload.

But now I have a DVD project and I'd like to do a bunch of color correcting in AE.

So can someone suggest a good workflow?

Right now I was thinking of creating a 29.97 timeline in PremCS4 > assembling cuts > using the Dynamic Link to get a new AE comp > messing around in AE > and then using Dynamic Link to go to Encore.

Anyone messed around with this dynamic link stuff?

Any good workflow or links to other info much appreciated.

I use dynamic link fairly often but I have not doen it yet with any AVCHD stuff...

Why make a 30fps timeline in Premiere? You should use setting from what ever your source footage is. Put the clips together in Premiere then Dynamic link to AE. BTW you can do a fair amount of color correcting directly in Premiere Pro.

You could also do some checking or asking in the adobe forum.

Here is a great video for downconverting HD to SD in Premiere and AME.

ALSO - I do not like to Dynamic link to Encore. I prefer to export from Premiere through AME to get the final file that I like. To get the BEST quality with 720p60 footage it is a 2 step process as you will see in the video linked above but the final results are GREAT. The Author of the video tutorial is a very active member on the Adobe forum so if you have any questions he is always helpfull...

Hey Phil thanks so much. Could you briefly summarize your workflow // the broad strokes? Thanks for the links as well.

Just import all your clips into Premiere and get them trimmed up and layed out on the timeline how you want them. If you cannot find the Color Correcting that you want in Premiere just select the clips that you want to import into AE. You can either do one at a time or select multiple clips by holding doewn Shift while clicking. Once you have all your clips selected them right click and select "Replace with After Effects composition". AE will open and you can do what ever you like with those particular clips. Once you are finished in AE just hit Save and when you go back into Premiere you will have a new Video Track ontop of the others that is the linked AE project. If you decide that you want to change something all you have to do is open up that project again in AE and make you changes and after you save the project Premiere will be updated...

Give it a shot, play around with it. I think you will really like the way that they work together.

Again though this is really the only ones that I dynamic link. Well I will also Dynamic Link to Soundbooth for some audio editing, but that is it...
