Hi,
I'm a sound guy and writing this on behalf somebody. so please bare with me if the question is stupid.
we've been shooting a doc on 720p/30p mode. we wanted to stay on 29.975 fps cuz it aimed for TV (NTSC).
Anyway the camera was set to Video Cam in the "Operation Type" menu.
when we checked the footage via P2 Viewer, our footage ended up 59.975 fps:undecided
I checked this in QuickTime and FCP (5.1.2) as well. We just want to stay away from frame rate conversion
i'd appreciate if someone could explain why our footage is in 59.945fps
thanks alot in advance

720/30p always records at 59.94 fps. All the non-pN modes are 59.94.

If you want true 30fps and only 30fps, you'd want to shoot 720/30pN.

FCP should be able to extract only the valid frames from your footage and convert them to true 30P files too.
