720p 24pn Night Shoot Advice

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I've just made the move up to the hvx200. I will be shooting a video that in involves a bands performance at night around a fire. I need any advice you guys could give me about a scene file and camera settings. I'm going 720p 24pn for the shoot. There are other scenes too and I would also like advice on shooting from a moving car (shutter angle to avoid stutter with 24pn). That would be during the daylight though. Lastly I've downloaded some scene files like "filmic" from panasonic, to a formated sd card (to the right file location), but when I go to Card Functions>Scene file, I see it there, but don't see a way to "load it", as the panasonic site instructs.

Thanks so much!

Bring a couple nice fresnel lights to simulate and amplify "firelight" Might need and assistant to simulate flicker. The HVX HATES the dark. You could go artsy and do the "framerate hack" search forum for details. Bump up shutter angle as high as you can stand, be prepared for smear.

Again, boost shutter angle for less stutter..trade off is again, smear. In 24p the slower the off axis camera movement the better. Slooowww pans, zooms, shifts. Consider increasing frame rate and speeding up to normal in post.

Not to sound condescending but you've got a lot to learn about a number of basics. Buy Barry's HVX Book...one should have come with your camera. All will be explained in a nice detailed, understandable manner. (and its a hard copy you can cherish and hold forever!)

Shoot, shoot more, than do some shooting.

thanks jaycanode! You're right, I do have a lot to learn. I do have Barry Greens Book and I have used it extensively, but after a decade away from "professional" video and film, my brain (like homer simpson) has apparently had to push some old stuff out to make room for the new. You should see me trying to help with middle school homework, and I'm a college grad! I had a stage lighting guy bring his gear out and it worked out wonderfully. I set my own scene file settings, loosely based on the text file from the "Filmic" scene file. I lowered the Master Pedestal until I got the blacks really black and it turned out great....other than focus!!!!!!!! I've read it a thousand times, but I tried to do it without an external monitor...I used the focus assist, and while helpful, still most of my shots were just too soft. Luckily its an independant and understanding artist....so we will be reshooting some of that scene. Anyway, thanks so much for the response, and wish me luck! Two more days this weekend, with hopefully a rented HD monitor secured by then!
