720p/24pN - Is this setting DVC PRO HD?

720p/24pN - Is this setting DVCPro HD?
Or is it Panasonics own setting?

I am wondering becuase I am thinking about buying the Matrox RT.X2. They say that with version 3.0 it will work with the P2 .mxf workflow but the card itself does not do DVCPro HD (kinda confusing it is).

Yes the 720/24pN mode is DVCPRO-HD. And yes it looks like the RT.X2 version 3.0 will support that mode, and all 720p modes and SD modes from the HVX200 (curious that it doesn't seem to support 1080 mode though?)

That EZ MXF utility sounds interesting; it makes it appear as if you could drag 'n' drop MXF files to any .AVI-supporting application. Which means maybe you could use them in After Effects or any other app...
 
I just got of the phone with Matrox and yes, the 3.0 update will support 720p mode from the HVX. The only drawback is that once the files have been put into Premiere and edited, you cannot send them back into the camera as they will be converted to .avi files.

Everything else is cool.

Works for me. I think I will be buying it...especially with this deal...
