720 pan-n-scan or DVCPRO?

hey guys...
i'm in the midsts of pre-production for two shows on a local cable network, and I'm using an HVX. They are def. not a HD channel. I enjoy how the 720pn looks, and I was wondering if I shot in 720, then pan-n-scanned it (to get my 4:3), would that look roughly the same as if i shot in DVCPRO 50? or would there not be much of a difference?

In this case you should directly shoot dvcpro 50, cause there is less compression(3:1) and you get the 4:2:2 colour space, after postproduction you can go to 4:3 or dirctly shoot in 4:3.

Also the filesize is quite the same in dvcpro 50.
