720 60p shutter speed settings

A guy posted this on on of my videos doing 60p:

"Probably the shutter speed. 1/120 gives you a flim-like smoothness in 60p, and as you go higher you get more distinct, staccato frames"

I film paintball and I want to get the paintballs in the air. But I dont want the flicker. What do you suggest?

Film like is usually achieved with 24p shooting at 1/48! But it's more than frame rate.

60p is better for sports or overcrank for a 24p timeline.

Flicker indoors? Could be due to the indoor lights. I get the same flicker at anything above 1/100th on my 5dmk2 from testing. Never tried with my HMC150 to shoot that high of a shutter though.

Strobe might be a better decription than flicker. I will see if I can find the footage I was talking about.

I never had any flicker, but I never go beyond 1/1000th. With my GL-1 I never went beyond 1/400th.

In extremely bright sunlight and purposely shooting with "overcranking" in mind, 1/2000th worked perfectly at 720/60p.
