720 60fps

If you shoot everything in 720p 60fps and then decide to slo mo a portion here and there in post with PP cs3, are the results as good as shooting in 720pn and overcranking at 60fps?

Depends on how smart your NLE is, and what framerate you output at.

If you are delivering in 30P and shoot 60P, then your NLE would normally throw away every other frame except when you're doing slow-mo,. If you are slowing the video down to half speed, you'd have the exact number of frames in your source, but for anything else, the software's algorithms become crucial.

One other thing to keep in mind is that the shutter speed will affect the look. If you shoot 60P with a 180 degree shutter and throw away every other frame for a 30P project, that's equivalent to shooting 30P with a 90 degree shutter.

Actually the delivery frame rate I had in mind was 60 frame with the slow mo requiring first frame deletions (to acomplish the slo) , then duplications of the remaining frames to bring it back up to 60 frames. I was hoping there was a trail blazed previously and someone had done this before. There is after all, no original thought left in this world...:) The shutter issue....hmmm, isnt each frame exposed independently and properly, leaving it as a stand alone complete image?
