720 50p question

Hi!

I did some testing with my HPX171 and shot footage in the 720 50p format (not PN). Later I realized that I did not change the scene file film frame rate setting. From what I have read on this forum, the video should not be 50 fps because the film frame rate was not changed in the scene file? However the video still looks better when compared to a 25p clip when both of them are slowed down side by side. The motion is much smoother in the 50p file.

Here are some questions in a nutshell:

1. If the video is recorded using 50p (not 25PN with a 50 fps frame rate), is it good for slow motion? Shouldn't this video produce a nice slow motion effect when interpreted as 25p in a NLE?

2. To achieve a good slow motion effect, does the scene file film frame rate always have to be altered? What actually happens if the recording format is 50 fps but the scene file is not changed accordingly?

3. From what I understand by reading these forums, 50p gives the video a "live video" feel. Is there a way to reverse this effect in post production if a more "film" like feel is wanted?

Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks!
