720 30PN and NTSC DV out firewire?

I am recording an event this weekend that I will also be streaming live over ustream. The plan is to record using an HPX170 at 720 30PN and to have a Canon GL2 to connect to the laptop for streaming.

I wonder if I could simply things by having just the HPX170 and output NTSC DV from the HPX's firewire port while recording 720 30PN?

Nope. No firewire output at all if you're in a pN mode.

Not 100% sure if the HPX170 has a Composite out, but if it does... take that into this card:

(It is pretty damn expensive though, might be able to find another card that just does analog stuff.)

And use Adobe's Flash Encoder 3, which is free.

Sounds like 2 cameras is actually the simpler approach all around.

I knew that 720 30PN wouldn't go out over firewire, I was thinking maybe I could spit out a simultaneous downconvert. But the more I think about it having a single camera doing two jobs would just increase the chance that both the HD recording and web stream would fail together.
