720 24pn project to DVD

Hello,
I have a short demo that I am trying to put on a DVD. I shot in 720 24pn, and edited in the latest version of Avid. I tried exporting a QT ref. and compressing using sorenson and the quality is horrible. I've been going through trial and error and just can't seem to get a decent looking DVD from the HD footage. My regular DV footage comes out better on DVD. Can someone tell me what is the best process of putting HD footage onto DVD.

Can you define "horrible"? That might help us to figure out where the problem is coming.

One possible solution. Sorenson automatically deinterlaces everything unless you specifically tell it not to. Deinterlacing progressive footage never works out. Maybe that's the problem.
