720/1080 -- same sensitivity?

If I switch from 1080 to 720, does the camera have the same sensitivity or is the sensitivity at 720 larger because more light falls on the binned pixels?

It's the same sensor, so I don't see how sensitivity would change. I mean, I get what you're saying - that the exposure area is the same but there are fewer pixels in the output image. However, that's an image-processing difference, it's not changing anything physical about the way light interacts with the sensor pits.

Sorry.

If you're also changing frame rates then no, 720p 60fps requires more light than 1080p 30fps/24fps.

I just noticed in the Nikon D90 HDMI menu there is a 1080i option. That has nothing to do with the shooting rate does it? I mean 720p is all the D90 can do right? If so, what is the 1080i option about?

The 1080i option is showing that you can output to a 1080i TV. Yes 720P is all the D90 can do.
