72-Hour Film Contest Entry - Shot on Sony EX1

Is it a commentary on our times?
I liked the symbolism.
What was the meaning of the church bells? Was his time up, but not hers?
The production values were good.
The story was a bit depressing; was it the pressure of the 72 hrs?

keep on trucking :-)

How'd you do the composite on the last shot? I like it, worked very well.

As for the whole short, not so much in my favor. Felt there was a lot of dullness, and somewhat boring at times.

Long intro to.

Acting seemed ok, shots and editing to. Sound was good but I think you should have ADR'ed it better so we can actually see him talking. IMO, ADR that's noticeable really weakens the film.

I like the effort though, especially for 72 hours. Keep it up man.

liked it. like the music. yeh it was kinda wierd not to see him talking. any particular reason u did that? (only saw him talk while sitting)

Nit picks

1.the framing of one of the shots when he was sitting led to me thinking she was on his right for a sec...when she was on the left.
2. when he got up he walked off a bit...but when he turned around to hold her hand...he was basically at arms length.

Anyway..i liked it overall though :).....

btw what is "ADR" ?

Thanks.

We didn't really make it with any idea of symbolism at all. Everything is up for different interpretations based on individual reactions to it.

Cleaning up - rerecording sound. Problem with this term is I've seen it used in various situations. some people use it to talk about Sound Cleanup/ Sound Mix others use it to talk about Recoding Over the audio in a scene using clean audio from a studio.

No matter what it "really" means. you know it deals with cleaning up your audio.

BTW - I liked the short. I liked how he just fell off at the end, the motion of it. Sure it was somewhat predictable. I think I would have ended it with the jump. If you end with the Jump - then it opens to the why and leaves the viewer with a emotional responce. But when you show the fall - it cheapens the jump and causes the audience to feel the pain of the fall, instead of the emotion of the leap. At least that's how I took it.
