EVA1: 6G SDI Cables?

I had posted about this somewhere else once but it's lost on me to what thread, but I don't remember getting a clear answer.

From what I can tell "6G" SDI is not an official standard, only 3G? But most qualtiy 3G SDI cables will work for 6G speeds?

I can't find an officially marked 6G cable from B&H for use with EVA1 raw. Can I just order two of any well reviewed 3G SDI cables to use for my dual link 6G SDI?

There are a few 6G on there, but you can always just use 12G cable. Not significantly different pricewise, especially if you're looking for 3' or shorter.

6G and 12G SDI are now SMPTE standards (ST 2081 for 6G SDI and ST 2082 for 12G SDI).

Which SDI cables will work with the higher bandwidth 6G and 12G SDI signals depends in part on the cable length. For example, Belden has a chart with the recommended cable length for each of their cable types depending on the video format:
https://info.belden.com/hubfs/resou...tal-video-distance-chart-product-bulletin.pdf

For shorter distances (say less than 10 feet), most HD SDI cables should work. Even thinner cables like Belden 1855A or Canare L-2.5CHD should work for short distance 12G SDI runs.

I'm still a bit confused; what I see for 12G are very long runs and I just need to connect the Atomos. Are you saying a short 3G sdi cable will perform the same?

Specifically, which of these would work? How can I tell?

Thanks for the help. Didn't think cables would be so confusing!

Probably any of those cables would work, although the last one has a DIN connector (rather than BNC) so it won't fit physically. If you want a cable with published specs you could look at one of the ones that uses Belden 1855A or Canare L-2.5CHD.

For example, these would be some good options in 3 ft. lengths:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1016104-REG/canare_cal2_5chdbm3_l_chd_series_1_0_2_3_din.html

According to Belden's published specs, their 1855A cable is good for up to 200 ft for 6G SDI signals. So I think a 3 foot length should work fine.
