6dB gain switch on; how bad is this?

So a few tapes for my project apparently were shot with the gain switch on the side on the Low setting (6dB). They were all shot in S5 in squeeze mode, in all sorts of lighting conditions. If I intend, or hope rather, to blow up to film later, how much will this gain be noticable in the image? Does anyone have experience blowing up similar footage with and wothout gain? I notice the additional noise in the image on a large tv, I just wonder how much more/less it will rear it's ugly head on blow up. Thanks.

at 6DdB gain there shouldn't be a really big problem, however your footage will take on a more "super 8" sort of look, especialy in well lit scenes. This isn't good for a film transfer, but isn't the end of the world either. Your footage will a be a little grainier, but not objectionally so. I have done the same thing in the past, which is why I dissabled gain in the menu settings.

I did not know you could disable the gain in the menu. I had a problem recently were I shot an entire scene with the gain on 12db! Did not notice in the monitor or VF. I will disable that sucker as soon as I get home. Look at this grab. As you can see I crushed the blacks as much as I could, but I could not get them were I wanted, and there is some grain. Lost the location so I'll have to live with it.

I love adding gain in-camera. Try it midday for a filmish feel. no good for a film-out. I agree with the rest, 6 db isn't enough to fret about.

Grain reduction in After Effects (prod bundle only?) does a pretty good job of knocking it back if needed.
