64gb card problem

Hello,

I've recently rented an hvx200 with a new 64 p2 card and another 32 one. The camera was bought spring last year.
I've shoot using both p2 cards in the camcorder and now neither the camera, neither my laptop will recognize the 64 p2. But, it did. I mean yesterday it worked(?!?) and today it shows the 64 p2 card(when alone in the camcorder) as an incompatible card, and when with the 32 (both in the camcorder) it shows only some of the clips shoot.
When I had an hvx I remember I had to do a firmware through an sd card for my camcorder to recognize the new 32 gb card. I asked the owner of the camcorder and he didn't do such a thing. I searched for an firmware and all I found was a p2 format station thing (that I dont really understand, and it doesnt look like the operation I did with the sd card not so long ago).
Pliz help. It's my baby we are talking about (an interwiev) and without it I'm toasted...

Thanks in advance,
Stefan

Hi,

The Card and the camera played nice before, so what did you do? Off load with the MAC and not write protect the cart? I am not saying that is the problem, just saying you need to do a step by step of everything you did. Let us know.

Not sure what Stefan meant by the firmware, sine you had already had the card working.

Take your card to the rental house and see if they can read it with one of the other P2 devices they have.

Best,

Jan

Hello Jan,
So, the rental house, is a very talented director here(Romania) but he doesnt know anything about tehnicall issues...
second of all, this is exactly what I did:
checked the footage - using the camcorder as a deck through usb to a pc. Looked fine.
Then for 2 days the cards were left untouched on my table till I wanted to look at the footage with my editor. From there everything got mad.
I also shoot on another two 32 gb cards that the camcorder wouldnt recognize. In p2 viewer I had only 2 clips of my footage, but after opening the folder it appeared to have all the clips... copyed to another computer and there they were...
Then the 64 gb one didnt even show,as anything. Not even as a mass storage device,so I said to myself it must be the firmware.
I dont know why it doesnt work.could it be a virus? Searched for it though on dvx user and I must say,no I dont have two content folders - like it was with the trojan some other people talked about...
I really need help,as the interwiev was with some important person that gave me half of his day to shoot and now he is in Chile...
Thanks,
Stefan

Ay,ay!
Last time I contacted panasonic folks from Romania they knew less about the hvx200 then I did...(and all I know about it comes from people like you on this forum and the fact that I had one that I recently sold to buy an hpx170)
I'll try nevertheless...
Annyway thanks for all, have to go to sleep, its allmost 4 AM here so... have a good day, I'll go to my nightmares :(

Hi,

The point is that the only way to resolve this is back through the technical chain. I do not mean call the slaes force, call the service people. My service people rescued a card that had been accidently reformated, I know I couldn't do it and I know there isn't anyone on this board that could do it. but our service guy did it. Blowing off the manaufacturer as part of your support because their sales department was clueless seems short sighted. If the service department is cluesless then I would contact Panasonic Europe, your group reports to them. You can find contact numbers for all of these on the Panasonic Global site, www.panasonic.net.

Good Luck,

Jan

Morning,

Yes, youre right, I should go to their service center. I slept on it and it seems the only viable solution. I'll keep postin.

Thank you,
Stefan

Hello everyone,

Just got back from the service. Yes Jan, you were right. The chip seems to be burned or smthn, so it has to go to Panasonic EU where they will perform their magic and get the footage back!
Just wanted to thank you this way for the advice.

Stefan
