HPX250: 64 GB P2 E series discontinued?

I clicked your link it and it doesn't say discontinued for me. In fact, it looks like I could have it in my hands tomorrow if I wanted.

Unless there's natural disaster that affects P2 card prod, I don't see any advantage to buy F series now when there's no AVC Ultra cam yet introduced. F series may become the same price as E series next couple years. I haven't see any high end 2/3" besides the upcoming entry level 2/3" CMOS HPX600 camcorder that can take advantage of the AVC Ultra 200.

Could a mixture of the P2 sales for the Olympics and the Micro P2 introduction next year be having an impact on P2 availability?
I know the Micro P2 is quite a long way away, but could they be slowing down the making of E series cards?

Oh, yeah, I guess I got confused between mentioning B&H at the beginning and then the Adorama link at the bottom.

I guess if you're looking to get more cards, now is the time to buy, but I wouldn't be too concerned. The F-Series will be more future proof and it probably won't take it long to get down to the E-Series price I would image.

I'm very interested in micro P2, but of course we have to wait to see anything concerning that.

I purchased 6 64 E series and one was bad. I sent it back to B&H and they called me to inform me that the card I sent them was discontinued and that I would either have to take a credit or pay the extra for a new F series card.

Hum, just bought one (E) from ebay 64GB for $450. I also would like to see the Micro P2, but will have to wait and see. Also The picture shows a E style card, but it stats in the description a F style card

EDIT - DISREGARD applies to micro cards not f Series... The most concerning part to me is for owners of older cams such as the hvx200. From everything I've seen the new cards will not work in the older cams which is fine so long as the old cards are still available. But if the old cards are discontinued and the new cards won't work that's not a good situation.

Where have you seen this? It doesn't make any sense that the F-Series would not work in an HVX-200, unless we're talking about one without updated firmware, which won't allow it to use any cards bigger than 8 or 16GB (can't remember which).

My apologies for misspeaking ... It was the P2 micro I saw that about.... no such statement for the series F

For the micro: "The simultaneous introduction of a microP2 Card Adaptor assures that the new series of 64GB and 32GB microP2 cards will operate in current P2 hardware*.

"The microP2 card and microP2 card adaptor will not support all P2 products."

That could be any number of products, not specifically the HVX-200. Does it mention that model?

Well I can't find the article I had seen before but usually Barry Green is in the know on these things and this is what he says about it: "MicroP2 won't work with the DVCPRO-HD-only cameras (meaning the HPX170, HVX200, and HPX500). It will work on any camera that has AVC-Intra capability. The hardware in those cameras is different. Note, it doesn't have to have AVC-Intra installed (think about an HPX2000) but it has to be capable of having AVC-Intra installed, in order to support MicroP2. So the HPX250, HPX2000, HPX2100, HPX2700, HPX3000, HPX3100, HPX3700, and new HPX600 will all be MicroP2-compatible, although obviously they'll have to use the full card adapter to fit the smaller cards."
