Hi guys, I'm going to have to buy a NTSC GH3 because the PAL version is taking to slow to came out. So I know about shooting 24p in PAL but what about shooting 60p for slow-mo in PAL land? The 180 rule can't apply because I would get flicker at 1/120, so would 1/100 for 60p make a difference? Or should I just wait for the PAL version? Cheers

I would always suggest using the model made for your territory. That said, 1/100 should work fine in PAL territory, with a possible exception being under magnetic fluos or HMIs. I think it will be fine in most cases.

Where/how much were you going to pay for an NTSC model?

If you're willing to buy from ebay, here's a PAL GH3/ships from Hong Kong:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-L...426353?pt=Digital_Cameras&hash=item53f54810b1

Under "Payment Method" on that ebay page:

  • Australia Bank Deposit
    • Only for Australian buyer
    • Please email us for bank details

It's up to you, but at least you're covered by ebay's Buyer Protection Plan.

Thanks Barry, it looks like I can buy a PAL version now. Thanks for the advice.

thanks for the link! Going to buy now.

That's USD 1,600, more than Euro 1,200 at te current rate... FWIW, it currently sells for Euro 1,050~1,200 VAT included in Europe (where there seems to be much less shortage than for the NTSC world)... IOW, let's say about Euro 1,000 if you can buy it ex-VAT from out of Europe...

Has it got record restrictions?

60p at 1/100 looks fine, just a little more motion blur, barely noticable
Hell I use 60p with 1/60 on my RX100, since I convert down to 30p, but even viewing at 60p makes hardly any difference

shutter speed at 24p is a different thing
