Is it possible to shoot in shutter speeds other than 1/60 and convert 60i to 24fps??

Not really. One of the downsides of doing 24p in post.

I don't see why the shutter speed would matter to one of those programs that converts 60i to 24p.

The DVC30 is a great camera thou, I used to own one, and I love it. But the instant 24p in the dvx kills it for me so I had to upgrade. The frame mode on it isn't bad thou if your just going to dvd or something.
