60i slow motion; losing quality?

I'm doing the infamous 60i to 24p slow motion business in After Effects, and I notice that the quality of my quicktime file is not as good when I send my exported after effects file back to final cut.

My process is this:
1. In FCP, export "Quicktime Movie" as reference movie, and then import into After Effects CS3
2. interpret footage to 24p, interpolate fields, yada yada.
3. Then I do Export.. Quicktime Movie.. HDV 108024p.
When I try to add my movie to the Render Queue, when I import the file back into FCP it doesn't play, but exporting the other way works fine

It would make sense that I'm losing some quality doing this, because I am creating a whole frame from only 1/2, yes? Just trying to verify..

Ok cool, I thought so. Is this still the preferred method amongst fellow DVXuser readers? (for those of us without the HVX of course?) I'm on an XH-A1.

Its all the same, just using dif software. Ultimately all you are doing is separating fields to create individual frames.

Ah -- very good.

Don't really notice much of a quality loss.. .but then again, I'm in DV most of the time too.

Good enough.

Whatever system you are on you use the method for that system, I'm sure they all ultimately look the same.
