This is probably going to be a dumb redundant question but i bought the dvx book and check around learning as much as i can but i want to get some more opinions... I am trying to figure out and decide what mode is best for shooting these different types of things and opinions? Thanks

I mainly shoot:

Skateboarding
Snowboarding
Bmx

Cars

Bands

Short film extra stuff like nature & animals

This is a subjective question, so it can have a variety of answers.

Here's what I do. YMMV.

I don't shoot interlaced anything (e.g., 60i).

If you're going for a "film" look (or, indeed, if this may go to film), shoot 24p.

Otherwise, 30p is my mode of choice for video work.

Good luck!

iv been shooting 30p for skateboarding and stuff like that. and if i do something slomo, i do 30p on a 24p timeline at about 75%

I film BMX for a shop and a team and I shoot skaters and snowboarders in my area...

I always shoot it in 30p, but when I shoot films I shoot in 24Pa...

check my vimeo, all bmx is 30p

in that case go 60i. I'd definetally recommend it for snowboarding. You can check out my recent edits at youtube.com/eoinsmall shot on the dvx100a in 60i. Watch "seekjoy filming update" - peace
