60fps - Uneducated I am... Please help.

Hi there everyone.

I just shot some hockey footage for an athlete last night with the HVX200.
I shot it in 720p/60p mode.
When I take it into Final Cut Pro, the footage is choppy. My sequence settings are set to 720p/60 (59.94 fps).
Please help.

Not sure I understand the question. 720/60p is perfect for shooting sporting events to get that "live" feel. You don't have to use it for slow-mo, it makes for brilliant live footage.

I guess you're saying you shot in 24pN mode? You should have shot in 720/60p mode if you wanted the "live" look. Surely Cinema Tools can conform the frame rate in your Quicktime file so that you set it to 59.94fps?

Thanks Barry.
I actually shot in 720/60p mode, but when I take it into Final Cut Pro it looks 'choppy'. My sequence is set to DVCPRO HD 720/60p... should it look choppy?

I recorded in 720p/60p on the HVX200 with a Firestore 100. My editing sequence in FCP is set to 720p/60 (59.94 fps). When I view the clips in FCP they still looks choppy.

The shutter was turned off, but the setting if I had it on manual was 1/60.0.

Shouldn't FCP want to render the clips? When I drag them onto the timeline it doesn't need to render the clips.

It is a MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz intel Core Duo with 2 GIG Ram.

The 'choppy' part looks like an unrendered piece of video what skips frames.

The problem has been solved......
I am running Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 on a new Intel Duo Core computer. I need to run Final Cut Pro 5.1 or higher. Ben, thanks for your help and time!

Right, FCP 5.0 on an Intel Mac runs in Rosetta, a G5 emulator, thus, is WAY to pokey to do any real editing work. Apple even says they don't support any pre-5.1 on Intels, not even in Rosetta.

Once you get 5.1 installed, things will be right and rosey with the world.

I'm actually embarrased I didn't realize that right away...
