hi,
i need some urgent advice, i've googled this but cant find any answers- we've shot a lot of footage at 720 25p @ 60fps and have a bad problem with flicker on the footage. We think it might be a problem with the lights- we've just done some test at 50fps and everything is fine. its too late in the day to re shoot everything- is there ANYTHING we can do in post at all? please help good people!

you are probably right about the source of the problem - possible fluorescents flickering at 100 hz which will beat against your frame rate of 60, but not against rates that divide into 100 such as 25 or 50.

Not sure there is a simple solution - are there moving bands of light? The rolling shutter can emphasize the problem

720 25p @ 60fps? You mean 720p60?

The flicker can't be removed as far as I know.

Try googling "deflicker plugin"

If you have a locked shot, you may be able to overcome the flicker using a slight amount of motion blur, or if your NLE doesn't have such a filter, by blending two video tracks that are offset by one frame.

panic over guys!
thanks for all your help but since i posted this i managed to skill it - OLD SKOOL! i overlayed the 2 tracks with a 1 frame delay, then added a strobe filter to the top track with a 1 frame strobe on that. job done, its not perfect, but its better than having your balls flayed with a soggy noodle.

war out.
