60fps and sound

When the HVX200 records at 60fps (whether it's in 720p/60p or in one of the other progressive modes that capture 60 frames per second even if it only plays back at 24 or 30fps), what does it do with the sound? Does it still record the sound and just be upset when you try to combine them? Does it just not bother recording the sound when you're in that mode, like film cameras do?

(Specifically, we are planning on buying an HVX200 to shoot research experiments - filming a person talking in a room, and we want to be able to look through 60 frames instead of 30 frames in a second of footage for quick facial movements, but we'd also like the sound so we can listen to what they said....... We don't actually need to play it back in slow motion as long as we can look at all 60 frames, and we'd like the 60 frames to be in progressive mode)

If no one knows off the top of my head, could someone really nice go shoot a few seconds and try it out? :)

Thanks!

Depends.

If you're shooting straight 60 fps as 60 fps, especially in 1080 or the 720 "P" modes, then yes, it records sound.

But if you're shooting 60 fps as a variable frame rate in 720pN mode, then no audio is recorded.

Ok, that makes sense (and works out well for us, since we're not likely to be doing much in 720pN mode, since we're hoping to record straight to a hard drive, rather than via the P2 cards, for much of what we're doing.)

I would think you'd have to record sound separately.
If you are shooting VFR where the recording framerate doesn't match the playback framerate, there is no way to keep the sound in synch without distorting it -- it doesn't matter whether you record the sound separately.
