60D specs leaked?

from canonrumors-

- sensor seems to be a tweaked version of the current 15MP sensor (better
DR, better high ISO IQ, eliminated pattern banding at high ISO)
- 98%-coverage, 0.96x magnification VF
- 3″, 1150K-pixel, active-matrix, organic LED display (25% higher-res than
current 960K screens)
- 19-pt., all-cross type area AF ellipse (basically, the current 1-series AF
point layout w/o the 26-pt. assist AF pts.; the new 1-series apparently will
have an all-new 45-pt., all-cross type AF module; what limits Canon from
drastically reworking the AF-point layout is the fact that all the currrent
Speedlights have AF-assist beam patterns that are designed only for 7, 9 &
45-pt. AF layouts–they just can’t make a new area AF design or add more AF
pts. that easily because of that).
- 1080p@30fps full HD video with full manual controls and contrast-
detect AF, stereo audio inputs
- 7.4FPS@14-bit mode (CIPA-standard testing method)
- new DiGIC V is more than 2x faster than current DiGICIV, enables
onboard processing of all those DPP functions still not done in-camera
with the current cams (i.e., lateral CA correction, geometric
distortion correction, better highlight & shadow detail extraction,
plus new “Diffraction Elimination” function: pixel-level contrast
enhancement and sharpening to counteract aperture-related diffraction
effects)
- AE microadjustment; +/- 3 EV range with 1/6EV steps; separate saved
corrections for Evaluative, CWA, Partial and Spot metering
- new higher capacity, slightly higher-voltage (to drive the faster
mechanicals & electrical readouts for the higher framerate), chipped
Li-Polymer battery (LP-E7), with new, magnesium-alloy framed BG-E7
battery grip with AF-ON and mini-joystick selector buttons duplicated

well no 24p but manual controls, contrast detect AF, and a faster processor which should make for a jello improvement.

"I think around $2000 US for the body"

That seems quite high for an XXD body....but this is obviously a 5d2 in an XXD case with quicker shooting and improved A/F system.

All XXD bodies to this point have been just over the 11-1200 mark at release, another couple hundred with the 28-135. Maybe a piece of L glass in the kit for that price?

Seems like a VERY worthy upgrade for those of us hanging on to our 40D's:)

Hmmm.... tasty.

That's what I'm thinking. Hopefully it won't be too expensive. I can't image it being as high as $2,000 US since the 5D mkII body is not a whole lot more at $2,600.

So how reliable are these leaked specs? Is it pretty much a given that this will be coming, or is it just a volley back at Nikon because they announced the D300S?

you know it's a fake rumor because the person writing it couldn't stop fantasizing about the AF on the 1D series cameras and wrote more than he/she should have and exposed the whole thing as a fake... Real rumors are difficult to come by.. there's no way they would have leaked accurate info about the 60D and then just happened to throw some rumors regarding the next 1D in there as well...

I smell B S too, although it is inevitable a 60D will be rearing it's head within the next 60-90 days, maybe earlier. Alot of those features also seem relevant to an updated XXd model. The 50D was a .5 upgrade anyway, IMO. The success of the 5d2 has to play a part in the integration of video in ALL future DSLR models, I believe.
I can't imagine Canon would want to deal with the backlash of handi-capping the video with an offer of 1080p, albeit @ 20fps, ala T1i. It WILL be full 30p if they implement video in the 60d and in my opinion, they lose if they don't. The D90 is wildly popular even due to it's lack of decent video.
Updated the DIGIC processor seems relevant ONLY due to the fact that I'm thinking they will release BOTH the 60D and 1DsMKIV simultaneuously with a brand new line of the HIS (Hybrid stabalization) lenses. Updates to the popular 70-200IS, possible 24-70 with the option, maybe some of the long whites....Also, probably a bleed down to the EF-S crop of glass with a new kit lens and the 60D featuring the new HIS system. Again, a bit of speculation, but you'll notice at the Canon boards, it's again, a forgone conclusion the lens update is coming, as soon as next month.
IF they update the Digic IV to V, we will get a speed bump over the 40/50d's mid 6 second rate. A 10% increase doesn't seem out of the question to me.
I agree with the guff about the 1D A/F system, but again, that's a body with an update coming. Makes sense they MAY, I do stress, MAY, bleed some of that new AF engine to the 60D. The options are limited with the lenses on the market, but they are to be updated, so nothing's certain:)

Just my opinion. If all is true in the OP's rumors....there is true justification for the price tag at 2k. Just seems over the top...a 70+% price increase during these economic times...
Regardless, all those features, a new lens technology, speed, etc...make it a very intriguing purchase, even for the pros still taking advantage of the APS-C "reach:)"

If it has 1080p 24p manual control and 40Mbps H.264 I'd be tempted to downgrade, maybe even get 2. If someone would just release something with all the right features I'd even consider investing in their stabilized lenses.

If the 60D has 24p there will be a firmware upgrade for the 5d, too. They won't let their flagship down that easily. If they can't give a firmware update for the 5D the 60D won't have 24p. Politics. I suspect they guard 24 up their sleeve until there is a serious competitor. Then they will let out the beast. It's simply the cheapest way to promote a "new" Canon camera every time an other brand rolls one out.
