600fps Twixtor effect with Motion's Optical Flow feature

Nice! However the slow motion artifacts do show with the hair and some motion. However, it doesn't look bad at all, and it truly emulates the super slow motion effect. Of course, it doesn't surpass real high speed slow motion, but for that we would need crazy amount of money. I think using software for slow motion has a "unique" look to it. I'm not criticizing, mind you! I think the artifacts also add something unique to the picture, a stroby like look to certain parts of the frame. I've done super slowmotion myself with twixtor, and it does the job- but I had to do LOTS of trial and error!

Yeah I can see that it takes a bunch of trial and error like you said. The snippets that I have in there are the only portions that were useable. It seems that there is a sweet spot for the motion of the subject- if the subject accelerates too quickly the artifacts get really bad. I'm just starting to get into experimenting with this and there are brief sections of footage that look pretty damn good. Now to figure out how to do it consistently...

SPZ- just watched your footage- really nice camera movement combined with the overcranking- that must double the difficulty!

Well, I've been shooting those cars and bikes for over 6 years now on the same circuit, I can pretty much predict when and how they are going to turn :) . Of course, some of those shots do come jerky or, well, s**tty. No one gets to see those but me :) .

EDIT- talking about the post process, the truth is even I can't figure out exactly what shots work and which don't. Generally though, the ones with a single subject and were there is no clash between foreground and background work best...

hi jd i really love what you did. Can you be more specific how did you light it and with what? And what is your camera setting i have hmc150

Thanks
