5Dmk3, silent audio adjustment...

I have no idea if this has been mentioned already, but after reading numerous reviews of the Mk3 about not being able to adjust the audio levels via touch unless recording, I was surprised to see I could. Am I the only one who's noticed this, or have Mk3 users for the most part figured this out? :)

I haven't gotten that far with my mkiii. Does it give good reading or would it be better to hook it up to something else to record from?

No idea on the accuracy, to be honest, but it's more or less about preventing clipping. If you need more than that, an external recorder will obviously be better suited.

For those who might wander past this thread and wonder how to do what no one in the media seems to know- in the Q menu, select the audio level and hit the set button. You can adjust the volume by touch from there.

No, I just have DXA-SLR. I didn't even know about Pro version. I stopped looking at any other audio solution, once I started using NTG-2/DXA-SLR combo.

Pro version must have come out recently. Mine is definitely not pro version. I don't think I saw pro version when I purchased my DXA-SLR.

I was going to use the H4n but decided to go with this setup instead. Does the sound record nicely for you? How much different is your system then the Pro?
