I'm just curious if anyone has a thought about Canon possibly releasing the new 5D at CES this week? It seems like the perfect place to do it, but I'm fairly new to the DSLR world so I wasn't sure if there was another expo where Canon usually unveils stuff, like maybe NAB? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

NAB, Photkina, IBC, lots of places to do it. I highly doubt a MKIII update announcement. Lots of people saying no DSLR updates this show.

Not necessarily. NAB is "National Association of Broadcasters". Magazines and Photographers don't always necessarily care about broadcasting, not really their target, so there are definitely more appropriate shows. DSLRs are used 100 to 1, if not more, for photos and not video, so it really wasn't made to be a broadcast tool, although DSLRs have found their way onto the video scene.

My take is that it'll come around fall. The 5d was announced in August and 5d mark II was announced in September. Last September, it was 7d. Seems to be the time of year for semi-pro class camera announcements from Canon.
