5DII/HDMI out - Not rescaling when recording is started

So I am late to the game with everything but - I am going to be filming a short with my 5d and I needed something bigger than the 3" display to setup the scenes. I have read about the output of the HDMI and the rescaling issue. I thought I would just use my computer monitor since it will be tripod shots indoors and with a 23" monitor even if it rescales its not a big deal.

My monitor is DVI only so I bought a 10 foot hdmi cable, a hdmi to mini adapter and a hdmi to dvi adapter.

Hooked it all up and everything looked good. Pressed record on the camera and was expecting to lose signal and the monitor would have to change resolutions. It didn't happen, what am I missing.

we did figure this out a bit ago, it's not downrezzing because they signal you're getting is already downrezzed, which is either because of your monitor or the hdmi-dvi adapter

Gotcha. Thanks.. This should work out just fine for what I am doing.
