No DSLR can do it. The chips aren't designed for it. There's a reason a DSLR costs $1700 and a Red One costs $17,000. Same sized chip. One's designed for moving images, one's designed for still images.

Ya when the camera goes into it's zoom mode for focus checking, it doesn't skip any lines. The magic lantern guy is working on a way to record with that algorithm.

Yes but a crop of the sensor is not even close to a full readout. The 7D can do 8FPS at least which means the sensor can do 8 full read outs at least. Probably closer to 10-12 but that doesn't mean they can do 24.

I now really want that AGC and level control on the 7D, It will be a good way to differentiate it from the T2i

A d3s does 13FPS

Cut the pixels down to 4 or 5mp (even 2?) and the size down to S35 or a little smaller and you are there

It's funny, I check in with these forums every month or so, and there is people who keep saying "no, can't be done, blah, blah.." and then it happens later on no problem.
