5D3 Remote Control

With my PannyCams I usually try to use an external controller when tripod mounted. Of course the typical handycam controllers plug into dedicated ports on the cam. The referenced controller for the 5d3 has some spotty reviews but seems like it might still be handy. And in my experience, they all seem to have some imperfections-flaws so I'm not expecting perfection.

Unlike a traditional video cam with dedicated plugs and functionality, this controller uses a USB interface into the 5d3 so any change in the OS such as ML might change the way this device works.

Question: Has anyone used this controller with a 5d3 running ML Raw? Any comments would be appreciated.

I have not used this controller.

I use the canon intervalometer but only with manual lenses for time lapse shots, not video work.
 
I've used it with a 1DC and a 6D running ML. It starts and stops recording, magnifies the image while not recording, and focuses the lens using both autofocus and the thumb rocker. It is incredibly useful for gimbal or crane work or any other time you just can't easily reach the camera. The thumb control can't be used for rack focuses, but it can be used to make slight adjustments while shooting.
