5D3 battery issue

I had this issue on a shoot the other weekend. I removed the battery grip and reset to default camera settings and that had everything working again. Now the camera is throwing me the same error with no battery grip, on the default settings. I'm gonna play around with the same factors but I was wondering if anyone had run into this and maybe had a fix?

EDIT: running firmware 1.1.3.

I don't think that it's telling you that you have a battery issue, just that whatever the issue is needs to be resolved by a full restart.
As was mentioned, I'd look at the firmware.

Well...there's supposed to be firmware coming out in April but I can't find a link to download yet; the only other update I could find was released in June of 2012 and I got the camera November/December 2012. So...yes?

EDIT: I have no way of getting past the error to determine which firmware I have. I'm not even sure how I would be able to install the update.

EDIT: I removed the CF card and was able to access menu settings. I'm on firmware version 1.1.3.

If it's working without the CF card, I'd look at that as a possible cause. Try a different card or use the SD card for a test.
Have you called Canon and asked them what the error means?

I formatted the card on my computer and was able to access camera settings after that. So I'm going to clear all my cards in case I'm not able to shoot any more to a certain card after the camera has turned off, I've got quite a few cards so I should be fine for tomorrow's shoot. I haven't called Canon yet but I'm definitely going to.
