5d3 and premiere

Hi again,

So, I'm currently trying out premiere pro CS6 and was wondering how much sharpening you guys generally apply to 5d3 footage. In Vegas I usually had it at around 30-40...not sure about premiere. I'm still very new to it and am fumbling my way around...heh :D

On the topic of premiere, are they any tips/advice/software quirks I should know?
Gosh...I was so fluent with vegas...this is really quite embarrassing. :)

Many thanks

I've used ~10-60 in Premiere ("Sharpen" filter). Depends on the shot and lens. You'll notice grainy artifacts if you sharpen too high.
I used Vegas 10 & 11 when working with 3D footage. I think you'll find PPro CS6 much faster and far more stable (all C/C++ and no .NET code).

Ah ok. Thanks :D

I have been playing with premiere for a day and I really do like it.
Am i correct in that there is no masking tool built into premiere? That's probably my one dislike. :(

Masking can be done like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSRrZJ5uKFY
In addition to using Photoshop to create a mask, you can also create one using the Titler (text, shapes, Bezier, etc.).
Did you also get After Effects? You can do much more effects work in AE, however it's not real-time like PPro.

Nope. I just got Ppro. I rarely, if ever, do visual effects work and can't really see myself using after effects much.
I guess the titler masking will do. Not a major issue for me, anyway.

I am liking the new layout, though. Feels very intuitive and clean. The option to select different work spaces is also very useful.
