We all know the video quality is amazing...but another reason I bought mine is because I wanted to try my hand at pro photography. I'm loving how much you can tweak the images in post, there's so much to work with when you shoot RAW. Anybody else here experimenting with the still side of things?

Im a 'pro photographer - never taken a still with it - no canon lenses :)

Maybe I should try..

RAW give great flexibility on all cameras BTW

Ya, I've been shooting RAW, it's so nice!

You haven't taken a still with it yet? You don't need a canon lens to take a picture.

I've always been on both the video and photography side of things so it funny to me to see pro videographers blown away by a single image.

As morgan touched on, its hard to shoot on this camera without Canon lenses because you won't have any auto focus or focus points to assist you. With still photography its incredibly important to be spot on with your focus.

When comparing the quality of this camera to my rebel XT, I can get about two more stops of light with the equivelent grain/resolution. It really opens up a whole world of photographing in low light situations.

Another thing to mention that I have found myself learning over the years, is that for video we try as hard as possible to shoot at the cleanest noise settings because noise from frame to frame is really distracting. With still photography I would much rather I grainer photo that had a sharp aperture and a fast shutter speed. I can shoot RAW 1 stop over exposed at 6400 ISO and never notice in a 4x6 print also...but even if I did notice grain on a big print it rarley is a big problem like it would be in video.
