5D with Nikon glass?

Hi,
I just want to know if it's possible? I have some gorgeous Nikon lenses, with manual aperture ring, and I was wondering if I could shoot video with those (of course I'll have to buy an adaptor, and lose the AF)?

Has anyone tried it?

OK,
What I'd like to know if it's easier to work with or harder (considering the aperture ring)?
Is loosing some electronic a drawback?
Are all Nikon lenses "recognized" by the 5D?

Any adapter from any company will work...I think I have about 5 different Nikon adapters and the work perfectly fine. Get yourself a chiped one and the focus AF confirmation will work for you in still mode.

I have a bunch of old manual nikon lenses I use on my 5D with the cheap adapters from hong kong... the only problem is, they focus a little past infinity. I would rather have all manual lenses for video.

They are harder as they focus the opposite way to every other lens also I don't think they are as good as L series canon lenses.

By the way, are those adapters easy to remove?
I'm still using a 35mm adapter with a Nikon mount on a Sony EX1. And I'd like to switch lenses from the 5D to the adapter form time to time...

A lot of people use the older AI and AIS Nikons as primes. Besides my Zeiss ZF's, I use a Nikon 80-200/2.8 with my 5DMkII. All of my adapters are Camerquest. Not the cheapest, but excellent, fit, finish and focus. I don't think you will disappointed with Nikon lenses. However, I have notized that used lens prices have gone up a bit .... maybe because more people are using quality MF glass on their 5DMkII and 7D's?

Is there any slop or lense mount shift with the cameraquest adapters? I am thinking of purchasing some ZFs to use with 5D/follow focus, and I want to make sure it's a solid fit.

I have 4 of them and I haven't seen any slop or shift ... even using the adapter with my heavy 80-200 Nikon zoom.

The Nikon lenses with the adapters work great with the 5D. The adapters are easy to put
on and off. The ones I use have a little tab you push up to enable you to take it off.
Matt at McGeedigital sent me this link for good adapters. They're about $11 a piece.

Since I'm using the camera as a cinema camera, and manual lenses, I don't mind that the auto functions don't work because I would override them anyway.

OK,
I've made up my mind! I'm going for the 5d mk2 plus Nikon adapters...

I was hoping Nikon would come out with something shooting 1080p, but things don't seem to go that way...

I'm making a leap of faith, hoping the 25p upgrade will be good...

I am pretty much in the same boat as you are....got nikon glass, got ex-1 with letus adapter (it still works like a charm and I love it), however I keep waiting for nikon to put out a full frame 1080p shooting vdslr and nothing happens....I am leaning more and more toward canon with an a adapter for all my precious nikon glass....

"I'm making a leap of faith, hoping the 25p upgrade will be good.." -- will the Summer upgrade include 25 fps, or just 24 fps?

Besides the 16.9 model, what other models enable AF on nikons?
