5D with DP6 shooting on the set of Fringe...

huge fan of the show, didn't know they were intercutting 5d, streamed together pretty seamlessly. considering most of the show is shooting on 35.

It's one of the last few shows that I consider my favorite on tv, now that they are in a friday night death slot, I hope they can stay afloat. I always think they should just dump shooting 35, save cost and turn it into a all RED or Alexa show. or f3 log when it comes out.

I'm a huge fan as well, it's like X-files for the 2010s :) I can say that I've never seen anything in the show that popped out as different, so this came as a surprise to me as well. I'm imagining they use it for tight shots to get more depth as that is a pretty wide shot given how close they are to the camera as you can see in the blurry background and how much more separated they are in the shot.

Given they are using a 5D, I wouldn't be surprised if they move that way. After seeing Game of Thrones, shot with the Alexa, the IQ is just fantastic.

this doesn't necessarily indicate they are intercutting 5D footage on the show. plenty of other uses for a DSLR behind the scenes.

True, it's only a guess since the framing looks like something shot for the show and it is recording video at the time the picture was taken. I guess I need to watch and see if I see this scene! :)

For season 4 Fringe has dumped 35mm going all digital using the Alexa.

Season 3, Episode 19 Lysergic Acid Diethylamide they used 5D's to shoot all those scenes that were eventually animated. I believe the SmallHD image is from that episode. Fun times!

That episode was a lot of fun! I laughed about Broils quite a bit! :)

After seeing Game of Thrones with the Alexa, I was sold.

The Alexa shoots beautiful images. A friend on Supernatural said when the show switched from 35mm to Red One they had nothing but problems with overheating, not recording the takes, etc. Then switched to Alexa and never looked back. Maybe problems with the Red were when it first came out and still had a lot of bugs. Supernatural also intercuts with the 5D every now and then too.
