I'm editing a project shot with the 5D and which used the beachtek to record audio directly onto the card in the 5D. When we were shooting, I kept checking the clips and the lav mic channel was better than the boom channel, I checked every hour and this was consistently the case. SO now I am editing the clips together and in order to do this in FCP, you need to convert the 5D footage to Apple Pro codec otherwise it drops frames constantly in FCP. So I did all the conversions to the clips and now the audio channels are indistinguishable from each other. I did nothing in compressor other than specify the codec and the destination, so it should not have changed the audio. DOes anyone have experience editing footage form the 5d with sound recorded to the card and having to convert the footage? Any ideas as to why this may be happening? Thanks.
