Hi

Here's a short film I shot last summer with the 5D. It's currently doing the rounds at festivals. Feel free to share it if you find it entertaining.

I've shot a lot of projects on the 5D, and although I have one eye on other newer cameras I am still devoted to the camera.

This is really good. I like how simple the storyline is. The drama and conflict with the wife/mother what makes it more than just a film about "a father spending some quality time with his son".

I like the cinematography also.

Can I ask, what did you use to make your short film look cinematic/film like?

Thanks Andy.

In terms of making it look cinematic... not much really. There was no real grading to speak of, I mean in terms of using Magic Bullet or anything. I maybe boosted the saturation a touch at times for the outdoor scenes. The sequence in the kitchen was graded to give it a blueish hue, but apart from that... not much.

I defocused the resolution by 1.5 as I find the 5D can be too pin sharp at times, which to my eyes jars a little. Then I added a grain effect before final export.

Maybe it's the grain?

Thanks for the nice feedback, much appreciated.
