5D Mark short by another ASC member

It does seem there are some more other people wondering about the 5D Mark II for narrative production as well...

Also 'cause there are other finest examples outside the 'pro' tag as much as good (or even beyond the ASC tag), here is another brighter sample IMHO -- the pencil cam age has come after all... Same plot (not so much original, as matter of fact ;-)

Last Day Dream by Chris Milk

Same camera.

LOL

Yes, I had already posted the link actually @ my initial post :-)

I think I should stand corrected my comment though. It is not necessary brighter, it just is...different?

It came first. It doesn't mean the writer of the second 'shot' hadn't written it first ;-)

Must've had my head up my a$$, just noticed the Chris Milk reference. My bad.
Still good work from the Bandito Brothers.

Cheers.

They're both lovely pieces of work. I really love Chris Milk's Last Day Dream. It's my favourite 5D short I've seen and the one that convinced me that video on SLRS are fudging amazing.

Haha read Shane Hurlburt's blog on it here:

Congratulations on the short. It’s very similar to Chris Milk’s 5DMkII film: Last Day Dream (http://vimeo.com/2982056), which was shot for alot less of your 50k budget and used only a lensbaby

KanyeFan, and it looks like it, with no feeling and no inspiration.

Oohft, harsh...

I've just watched both for the first time and would say that they are similar in concept, but that's where the similarities end; they take completely different roads to get to the point. In a way it's sort of unfair to compare the two.

Last Day Dream is obviously more rhythmic and course, Last 3 minutes is more melodic and poetic.. both very good examples of getting somewhere by taking a totally different approach.

Without question, Last 3 minutes is a stunning achievement in what you can do with these cameras, in terms of lighting, direction and storytelling (choice of lenses). I thought it was stunning.
