5D Mark III

Sorry if this has been addressed before.

So I know that there's a lot of video examples of the Canon 5D Mark III with Magic Lantern RAW, but I can't find a whole lot of footage examples not using RAW. Any links out there that can demonstrate the quality of the h.264 files right off the camera? I know ML Raw is amazing but I don't always want to use that workflow. Considering making a purchase soon and really trying to weigh the pros and cons compared to other cameras. Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. We have a couple of T2i's and 60D's that we're using for a kids TV show (just finished the first season, starting the second season soon). We do a lot of run and gun and some staged shoots. Need to replace our cameras and I'm considering 5D Mark III but also the 6D. I'm also contemplating a couple of BMPCC's instead of DSLR. I found some decent footage online of the BMPCC, 6D is okay. Lots to consider....budget, size of cam for style of shooting, workflow, best quality picture, bang for buck...etc. Not interested in 4K just yet, I'm sure in a couple of years we'll be ready for that. Keep the samples coming, it really helps. Thanks again.

You have a lot of options these days. In my opinion, the 5DMKIII is past its heyday unless you are shooting RAW. I have to sharpen the files a lot in post to get a decent level of detail. Maybe check out the Sony RX10s? Great image in a very video-friendly design.

If you've got the budget for a 5DIII, can you stretch it a little bit for the C100? That little extra expense will get you a whole lot more in image improvements and usability. XLR audio on board, NDs built in, no record time limit, long lasting batteries, AF option, etc, not to mention a big improvement in the picture.

Good point. If they were to drop the price a little, I might consider it.

Which do you think are the limiting (for your work) factors of your existing T2i and 60D? If you know that, its easier to choose what is best for you...
