Just trying to get a feel for what people are thinking the hdmi uncompressed upgrade is going to help or change. Obviously it should help with monitoring as it will scale properly via external monitor, but do you think it will help at all with resolution or will it basically just give a very slight increase in performance as this feature does on the d800?

Thoughts?

My guess is that it will look just the same as in-camera recording... until you start grading the footage, then the externally recorded 422 ProRes (or similar) will hold its own for a bit, while the internal codec starts to show macroblocking and such.

There is a chance that some of the noise reduction will be bypassed so the resulting footage might have more detail along with more noise. But it all guesses now. I just hope they don't step in the hole of disabling the LCD screen while the uncompressed signal is going out the HDMI port. Not all external recorders have screens nor do you always want to use an external monitor.
