5d mark iii.....Strange issue with aperture

Hi all,

i am facing weird issue with the aperture on my 5d iii.

e.g i am shooting an indoor scene with constant light setup. i keep my aperture at f5.0 and i record the shot. i even check the shot after shooting it and once i come out of the play mode, the same setting with f5.0 looks very bright and i have to change the aperture to f7 to match it with the previous shot. During this time, there is no change in lighting conditions at all, yet there is difference in the way it looks on the 5d.

any advice or suggestions?

thanks

The Exposure Simulation setting only appears if you take photos. It is not available and has no effect once you switch to record a video.

IMO, it is not an issue with aperture. If a shot @f5 and a shot @f7 indeed look the same on LCD, there must be something out of your manual control. And that something may or may be in your camera. As far as I know the brightness of the LCD when you take a shot does not always match the brightness of the LCD when the camera plays back the captured shot... To me this is not bad, as it allows the camera to make an overexposed shot playable in camera. But it does indicate that the LCD brightness alone is not reliable for verifying correct exposure.
