Film normally looks quite flat and greyish with alot of room for post, so I think we know what the director meant when he said that the 5D footage was more richer. Hopefully it hasn't limited them too much though!
I didn't notice any shots in House so far that standed out to me as 5D, but if they did use one as an early test then awesome!
I'm interested to see how the Canon L glass compares to their usual cinema lenses (don't they use Cookes?). I own a few Nikkors and I prefer the look to them than the L glass, but if they've shot
it in such a great way I may have to invest/rent Canon L's more often...
Just a note on Canon lenses and what's coming. If the coming 24-70 2.8L IS II has anything in common with the new 70-200 2.8L IS II, you may only need these 2 lenses in your kit. I have the the new 70-200, and it's quite impressive. In the ISO 12233 Chart, it seems indistinguishable to the Zeiss glass at www.the-digital-picture.com. Photographers have been quite enthusiastic about this lens. I would anticipate the same quality from the upcoming 24-70 2.8L IS II. As sensors are now capable of out resolving glass, Canon has really stepped up the IQ of their new lenses. The current 24-70 already has quite a following.
I know there are alot of prime only fans out there, but things are changing in that regard, IMO.
I believe the House director also mentioned the 24-70 and the 70-200 as being used on House. These two lenses will run close to $4K. Well worth the cost, IMO.
