5D MArk II and 14-24 nikon G lens issue

Hello,
I 've lent to a friend My 5D marck II and my Nikon G lens 14-24mm with a chip adaptor with aperture control.
He is totally lost because the 5D seems to be looking for aperture or something and the screen goes from black to white constantly.
He knows the 5D pretty well and he is all in manual mode.
I don't know what he is doing wrong?

Has anyone come across this?

Try using a different adapter, maybe chip-less. I have experienced terrible exposure flickering with a chip adapter on the 550d, till I dropped the chip.
