5d footage, compressor & youtube

Can anybody recommend the best encode settings for 5d footage for upload to youtube? my final video looks a bit more 'distressed' compared to other 5d footage im seeing out there. In my final cut pro timeline everything looks beautiful, but im wondering if anyone has a good recipe for apple compressor.

Thanks guys

What version of FCP are you using ? I use FCP 7 and I use the standard Youtube compression in the Share section. It works better than the Apple Tv which is the next best one in my opinion. It has a slightly larger file but it looks better to me than the appleTV compressor settings.

I never use Compressor to export Quicktime clips.

Just export to Quicktime with H.264 codec at the highest quality setting, 100% of original size, AAC audio at 44.1 KHz, and 5,000 kbits/sec.

.

export quicktime, current settings, check or uncheck independent clip box then open it in quiktime and go to export>MPG4>9000kbs>1920 by 1080 then you are set, this is the highest absolute quality that I know of. Some people lower the kbits to 5000 or go to 1920 by 720 but thats the highest quality I am aware of. File size will be quite big but I have a Vimeo plus account so I don't have to worry about that =P

Hey tackleqb

I'm gonna give your way a shot, I've been trying to increase the KB from 5,000 and I haven't had much luck.

Thanks.

Compressor will usually go faster though, and you can set the same parameters.

great response guys, im really keen to try the quicktime method. Very surprised that quicktime could yield better results than compressor

Not sure if compressor has the ability to set it at 9000kbps i think there is a limit. but then again I haven't fooled with it too much.
