$59 battery compatible with the AF100?!!

i also just ordered one of the maximal power ones from amazon for 35, will see how it fares
How was it? or do you not have it yet?
Can anyone recommend a dual charger for the aF? I think I read it in the forum somewhere. Trolling thru...

I bought and just received two of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045JXSHO/ref=oss_product

"Technical Details
- Fully decoded and Made with info-chip, which can show remaining time on the original equipment, and charged by original battery charger
- 100% Compatible with original manufacturer equipments and chargers
- Maximal Power is one of top selling brands for replacement batteries at amazon
- Backed with 3 year warranty and $1 million product liability coverage
- Integrated microchip prevents overcharging & lengthens battery life"

FWIW, fully charged, they show 3.5 hours' run time. Sooner or later I'll put that to the test.

I just ordered a third, after having battle tested the two I've had for nearly three months. The original Panasonic battery hasn't seen more than one or two full cycles... maybe I should sell it :D

...as for a dual charger, Dolgin is supposed to be excellent, but the price... ouch... http://www.dolgin.net/Products.htm

I have found the Lenmar Battery from Dolgin only gives about 2 hours 54 min of camera operation, when the Panasonic battery will give about 4 hours and 35 min of operation.
Yes this is a compromise that only you can decide on.

I have 2, they work well. It's physically larger than the Panasonic battery, but weighs less. Also, it's rated at 5800mAh.

Did Panasonic recently change their VBG6 battery design? I own 1 Panasonic battery and 2 of the Flashpoint/Adorama ones and they all have the exact same form factor and roughly the same weight.

yes the design of the new battery that came with the af100 is a different model # and is shorter and heavier, but other than that is just harder to find and more expensive then the widely available aftermarket vbg6. well, .... widely not including B&H ;)

Hotwood, I 've been doing some battery testing recently; the OEM Panasonic tested as 5200mah (labeled 5800), Lenmar 4800mah. So both of them are less than their labels call for. Still the difference between them is ~10%, not as much as you reported. Even without testing, just doing simple math the Panasonic being officially ~42WH (5.8 Ah x 7.2v = 41.76 wh) can power the camera only for 41.76WH/12.5W=3.34 hours, which is one hour less than you reported. I am wondering if you used the same conditions when testing both...

Or perhaps you sold me a defective battery. I am simply posting what I have found.
This is also what the battery life indicator on the camera shows. Same conditions for both. I have only had this battery for a few weeks. If you feel this battery should preform better than what I have found I would welcome an exchange, otherwise I will simply deal with it.

Hmm, please re read my post again. According to what you reported, the Lenmar gave you about 3 hours run time which agrees with what the rating of the battery is (run time depends on how your camera is used, so it is not exactly the same every time you use the camera). Panasonic OEM battery on the other hand can not deliver 4.5h you reported - not according to the calculations I made. The user manual says - up to 3.5 hours if I remember correctly. We do not own the AF100 here, so I can not verify the actual numbers myself, this is why I am asking. BTW the battery indicator is not a good way to gauge, they could be off quite a bit. Only actual use time is to be trusted.

So far I have found the battery indicator to be close to on the money that may change.
